Ford Motor Company was known to have been selling hundreds and thousands of vehicles for over a century all over the world. Ford is the first of the big car manufacturers in America and has attracted loyal customers because of their inventive and dynamic products that give value to money. One of the most famous and best selling automobile in United States is their F series and SUVs. The history of ford started in 1903 by Henry Ford. He envisioned building vehicles for the not so rich people and he really acted on that vision. Ford’s company was based in Michigan on the 1903s they started their lineup of vehicles with the letter of the alphabet and prices are very conventional. The most popular Ford series at that time is the 1908-1927 T Models and it was so affordable that the company’s factory workers can afford it. It was also the first company that utilizes a cost effective production method.
When Ford bought the Lincoln Motor company they ventured into manufacturing luxury cars. As the years pass by they also broaden their company and started creating cars that are mid-priced. And Ford unveiled in the late ’30s over 25 million of elegant and low priced Lincoln Zephyr with a V8 engine.
But when 1970 came, Ford started suffering the effect of the change of tastes by the consumers. And government rules were also changing. So a lot of the latest Ford cars were overshadowed by the old Ford series. But the company’s popularity regained in the 1990s through their midsize SUV Explorer. It was a big hit and it paved way to the SUV era. And by purchasing the division of Volvo cars in 1999 they were able again to expand and they introduced the Land Rover. There was even a talk that Ford was taking the spot of General Motors as the number one maker of automobile in the entire world.
Downturn of Ford was but seen in the new millennium because competition has been increasing and costs of legacy and the dependency on SUVs to earn profit has rise. To cut their losses they sold the Aston Martin brand, the Jaguar and the Land Rover. But the Volvo brand and the Mazda brand remain with Ford. Today Ford Motor Company attempts to climb up the ladder again through the households with new and better products. Ford’s future is certain if we are just going to base with their business cycles in the past.
