The 2007 Mondeo did not end up by keeping the sophisticated carbon-fiber wing doors that were originally featured on the concept drawing. Ford stated that they were too expensive to add. Other than that most of the other styling elements were kept.
The trapezoidal spoiler air intake is most likely to remain unchanged as it is already featured on the new Ford S-Max. Sizes will grow considerably in comparison with the previous Mondeo; therefore, comfort is expected to improve as well.
Ford is teasing pickup lovers with an early glimpse of the face-lifted F-series trucks that make their debut this fall. The 2007 Ford F-150 FX2 is the latest in a series of special editions of the F-series, following such popular models as the Harley-Davidson and King Ranch trucks. On sale later this summer, the ‘07 FX2 is basically a trim package on an F-150 4×2 chassis, providing a monochromatic look with some interior flourishes, essentially a street-truck companion to the rugged FX4 off-road model.
If you are still upset over the decision that was made by Ford in 2004 to stop building the supercharged Lightning pickup, here is at least partial relief. The 2007 F-150 FX2 is a rolling demonstrator on how pickup power freaks can create their own speedy trucks with parts from the Ford Racing catalog.
The Lightning was a hot-rod version of the Ford F-150 pickup that first appeared in 1993 with a 240-hp V-8 and a $20,000 price tag. Production only went until 1995, but a second-generation version bowed in 1999 with a supercharged 360-hp V-8 that eventually produced 380 horsepower before it was put to rest in 2004.
Ford has simplified the Explorer lineup for 2007, now offering just three trim levels: XLT, Eddie Bauer and top-of-the-line Limited. To commemorate Ford’s sponsorship of the Ironman World Championship, XLT models now offer an Ironman Package. It includes Ironman logos, 18-inch machined aluminum wheels, an exclusive Orange Frost color, and 10-way, leather-trimmed heated front seats.
An audio input jack is standard with all radios. The available DVD entertainment system now features a larger 8-inch screen, and a new Carbon Clearcoat Metallic exterior color is available on all models. A new White Sand Tri-Coat Clearcoat Metallic exterior color is available on Limited models. Limited models now come standard with auxiliary air conditioning, 18-inch machined aluminum wheels and a reverse sensing system.
The 2007 Ford Freestyle is Ford’s crossover vehicle that debuted for 2005, built from the ground up to be a crossover rather than converting an already existing minivan or SUV, and shares a new platform with the new Five Hundred sedan. Ford describes the Freestyle as offering the looks of an SUV, the versatility of a minivan, and the confidence of an all-wheel-drive sedan. The Freestyle features seven-passenger capacity, versatility for passenger or cargo use, and available all-wheel drive.
