Police Crown VictoriaFord Motor Company has decided to conduct a voluntary recall of its very own Crown Victoria police package Interceptor model because of small cracks that could form in the car’s steel wheels during high speed chases. These cracks could cause “rapid air loss,” or what the street folk call a blow-out, effectively allowing the no-goodnicks to get away and obviously putting the officer behind the wheel in an incredible amount of danger.

About 109,664 examples of the 2003 to 2005 models will be recalled, though it’s suspected that a very small percentage of active duty cop cars actually are rolling on defective wheels. Only two crashes have been connected to the issue and no officers were injured.

2006 Expedition XLSThe Ford Expedition is ready once again for 2006 with only minor changes and the same choice of rear- or four-wheel-drive versions in no less than six trim levels topped by the King Ranch model.

For 2006, a reverse distance-sensing system and Safety Canopy airbags are now offered as stand-alone options (previously available only in packages) and chrome-tipped exhaust pipes are added on the King Ranch trim level. New exterior colors include Pewter Clearcoat Metallic and Dark Copper Clearcoat Metallic, and a Medium Flint Gray interior is newly offered with the Limited version.

2006 Lincoln LSThe rear-wheel-drive LS sedan, a slow time seller that never quite matched the style and handling delivered by its European competitors, pares down to a single version for 2006. The V8 engine is now the only one available with this vehicle. Although not the home run Lincoln was swinging for when it introduced the car in 2000, the LS maintains at least a theoretical edge with enthusiasts for its V8 power and RWD configuration. Rear drive is coveted over front drive for its better balance and more refined ride and handling characteristics.
