Ford 'Concepts'

Ford Kuga ConceptFord will be showing off their new 2008 Kuga Concept at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Although the Kuga was built as a cross over and has a design that is similar to the Ford Focus (European version) – engineers derived their inspiration for the vehicle from the Iosis X Concept.

We are expecting the Kuga to be available in all wheel and front wheel drive. Consumers will also have the option to opt for the gasoline or diesel engine. Ford promised us the all-wheel drive Kuga will have “impressive on-road dynamics coupled with substantial off-road ability.”

Ford VerveWe here in America feel honored and proud that Ford has chosen us to bring in their brand new small car to consumers everywhere! The new Verve concept is beleived by some to be the next Ford Fiesta. It is a small car, smaller than the Focus.

There’s no information on what type of power the Ford Verve would have if produced, but it won’t be much. These cars are built for economy, and now looks. Ford is emphatically behind this concept’s design, and Ford of Europe stayed fairly true to concepts like the Mondeo sedan when it came time to build the production version. More photos below.

2009 Ford FlexFord decided that the best time to release their most important vehicle of the year was at the New York International Auto Show. And they found that it was the perfect place to introduce the 2009 Ford Flex. The Ford Flex will replace their usual minivan and will keep them up to date with the other popular crossover vehicles.

This is a vehicle that seeks to change the way that you and I think about Ford by being thoroughly thought out, pleasantly executed and different enough to generate strong opinions, all of which took place on the show floor. The Flex is that it’s a luxury large crossover vehicle (GMC Acadia/Hyundai Veracruz-sized) that is based off the architecture that underpins the Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX.

Interceptor ConceptThe most realistic concept is the Ford Interceptor four-door muscle car. It gets the striking chrome grille treatment from last year’s Super Chief concept, but it’s surprisingly understated overall. The low roofline and broad shoulderline lend a powerful, toned look and it’s not hard to imagine something like this on the road before too long.

Inside things get a bit wackier. A rather gauche all-black interior has low, bucket seats and even the headliner finished in “belt leather”. Head restraints hang from the roof, rather than extending from seatbacks. The dash is straight out of the ’70s muscle car playbook: all squares and rectangles. Back-seat riders get experimental inflatable seat belts.

Airstream ConceptFord beleives that a motorized version might just make the best crossover. To grab some attention at the Detroit Auto Show, Ford’s Advanced Design team out in sunny SoCal has come up with a futuristic Airstream concept with seats for seven and a plug-in hydrogen hybrid fuel cell for power.

About the same size as Ford’s new Edge crossover, the concept takes the streamlined fuselage look of an Airstream and combines it with a touch of X-1 rocket plane from The Right Stuff and an interior that’s straight out of Kubrick’s cult classic 2001: A Space Odyssey. Too bad they didn’t go for an authentic Airstream-style riveted aluminum body it’s regular old steel.
