Both Cook and Archuleta were given the Ford Escape Hybrid – which are great on fuel efficiency and supposed to be great for the environment. Cook is getting along with both his new car and Ford Motor Company in general rather swimmingly, “I love it. It’s nice to have a new car. Ford has been amazing throughout the whole process. I definitely could see this as the start of something,” says the rocker.

Ford will be revealing the new 2009 Escape 2009 Mercury Mariner at the Washington Auto Show this week. The event will start Wednesday and will last until Sunday. Ford will be competing with Toyota at the auto show when it comes to showing off new SUV’s.

Ford said overall fuel efficiency for the gasoline versions of the 2009 Escape and Mariner would increase by 1 mpg compared with the 2008 versions, which get between 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway depending on the engine configuration.

The 2008 Ford Escape, the best seller among compact sport utility vehicles, gets a new look and a new interior for the 2008 model year. The changes apply to both the standard (gasoline-powered) Escape as well as to the gasoline/electric Escape Hybrid. It is expected to go on sale summer 2007, the 2008 Ford Escape was debuted at the November 2006 LA Auto Show and is expected to be priced similarly to the outgoing models.

Ford stated that its 2008 Escape and Escape Hybrid crossovers will grow a little closer to their Explorer and Expedition cousins for the 2008 model year. A revamped version of the popular crossover vehicle was debuted at the 2006 Los Angeles auto show and goes on sale in 2007 as a 2008 model.

The Ford Escape is the best-selling of all the small, affordable sport-utilities, and it’s a solid choice among other vehicles. The Escape offers agile handling, a smooth ride, and comfortable seating for four average Americans. It also offers brisk acceleration when equipped with the optional V6 engine. It’s compact but practical. Folding down the rear seats reveals a flat, moderately sized cargo area. Best of all, its prices are relatively low, up only an average of 1 percent over 2004 prices.
