The result is enough power to handle full capacity and then some for whatever is in the trunk.

The safety system includes antilock brakes and dual front airbags and uses an electronic crash severity sensor, a restraint control module, driver’s seat position sensor, safety-belt pretensioners, energy management retractors and front outboard safety belt usage sensors to help protect the driver and front passenger in certain frontal collisions.

The 2002 Ford Windstar has been the recipient of high praise for its sensibility, performance, and stellar government crash test ratings for over several years. Popular with families, it continues to improve and offer new features and colors to effectively compete with even the best vans out there in its class. Four tremendously versatile models hit the market the year, the 2002 Ford Windstar LX, Windstar SE, Windstar SEL, and 2002 Ford Windstar Limited.

The LX has a brand new look this year, sporting standard headlights, and painted body-color front and rear fascias. For those on the lookout for more luxuries, take a good look at the well-appointed 2002 Ford Windstar Limited. In addition to a standard audio system, you may opt for the Autovision Video Entertainment System that includes 6.4-inch overhead console-mounted monitor plus removable videocassette player.

For peace and quiet, the system comes with two headphone sets. Among the convenient aspects of the Autovision package are a remote control, side pocket videotape storage, and eight-foot headphone cords for those seated in the third row.

The 2002 Ford Windstar has loads of interior cargo space, and is graced with amenities such as garage door opener, driver’s seat memory, and memory functions for the accelerator and brake pedals. The tilt steering wheel with memory comes as an option.

Along with some updated physical changes, the 2002 Ford Windstar features dual sliding doors plus the handy rear liftgate so that you can load and unload effortlessly. Power dual sliding doors are available as a convenient option to make matters even easier, especially when your hands are full. Choose from a new selection of colors for 2002. A roof rack is also offered for the transport of extra cargo, equipment, or sporting goods.

All the 2002 Ford Windstar models boast a 3.8-litre engine that powers along to the tune of 200 horsepower and 240 lbs-ft of torque. Built with front-wheel drive, each vehicle features a 26-gallon fuel tank that allows you to travel 500 miles of highway before you have to pull over to the next gas station. This classifies the Windstar as an Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle country-wide.

The list of performance features continues with standard equipment such as front disc and rear drum brakes, plus the all-new AdvanceTrac Interactive Vehicle Dynamics System which couples with the ABS brakes at certain moments to maximize control.

The Windstar has received five-star government crash test ratings for seven years in the driver and front-passenger protection category. It also received a double five-star rating in side-impact tests when the vehicle is equipped with side impact air bags.

Standard safety equipment on the Ford Windstar includes anti-lock brakes, AdvanceTrac interactive, electronic crash severity sensor, and strategic crumple zones. Inside, occupants are protected with a driver depowered air bag, passenger depowered air bag, three-point seatbelts, child seat tethers and anchors, and child safety locks.

Another interesting safety fact is that the Windstar is equipped with a front passenger weight sensor that automatically turns off the passenger side air bag and side air bag if the passenger is below a certain weight.
